Information
Intake interview
During the intake interview I have the opportunity to get to know the child and the situation better.
This conversation provides an opportunity for parents and/or the child to share concerns, questions, and expectations. The goal is to gain a clear understanding of the child's situation and specific needs, so I can effectively tailor the coaching.
In this conversation, we discuss the child's background, important events, and any specific challenges. Together, we'll explore the child's strengths and interests so we can utilize them to optimize our support and build their self-confidence.
Custom plan
Based on the intake, I develop a personalized plan. This plan is tailored to the child's unique personality and can include various methods, such as:
Play and creative activities (e.g. drawing or making up stories).
Mindfulness and relaxation exercises to promote calm and focus.
Learning to recognize and regulate emotions.
Positive affirmations and exercises to build self-confidence.
The plan is flexible and is adjusted as necessary throughout the process, depending on the progress and needs of the child.
Individual sessions
The coaching consists of weekly or biweekly sessions of 45-60 minutes. During these sessions, I work with the child in a relaxed and interactive way.
Safe environment : The child feels heard and seen, without judgement.
Targeted activities : Depending on the issue, we can, for example, work on learning to express feelings, finding solutions to challenges, or dealing with tensions and uncertainties.
Reflection : At the end of each session we briefly reflect on what has been done and how it feels, so that the child gains more insight into themselves.
Evaluation and Completion
After a few sessions, we evaluate the progress together with the parent(s). What has the child learned? What changes are noticeable? Depending on the goals, we determine whether further support is needed or whether the program can be completed.
Why Child Coaching?
Child coaching offers a valuable addition to a child's upbringing and education. It's a program that:
The child is central : Together we look at what the child needs to grow.
Practical solutions are provided : We focus on achievable steps to address challenges.
Resilience is developed: The child learns to cope with setbacks and develops self-confidence to take on challenges.
Child coaching isn't just about solving problems, but also about strengthening what's already going well. It's a process in which children learn to be themselves and be proud of that.
When is child coaching suitable?
Child coaching can help with, among other things:
Dealing with emotions such as fear, anger or sadness.
Insecurity and low self-esteem.
Difficulty with social interactions or friendships.
Stress or tension surrounding school or performance.
Learning to cope with changes, such as a divorce or move.
A collaboration with the family
I believe parents play a crucial role in the success of child coaching. That's why I maintain close contact with parents throughout the process. This can be through evaluation meetings or practical tips and tools to support the child at home.
Together we create a foundation on which the child can grow, discover themselves and look forward to a balanced, happy future.
